Fixing The Soil Before Fixing The Grass
A lawn renovation done right starts underground, not with the seed bag. We test and correct soil pH (frequently needed given Massachusetts’ naturally acidic soil), address compaction with aeration, and grade out drainage problems before anything gets planted — skip that step and you’re seeding into the same conditions that killed the lawn the first time.
From there we choose seeding or sod depending on your timeline and how bare the area is — full sod for an immediate, dense lawn on a tighter timeline, or seeding with a cool-season blend suited to South Shore soil and sun conditions where a slower establishment is acceptable.
Seeding over a bad soil problem just grows the same bad lawn again, slower.
