A retaining wall is holding back real soil pressure, especially after New England’s freeze-thaw cycles and heavy spring rain — which is why the drainage behind the wall matters as much as the wall itself. We install a proper gravel backfill and drainage pipe behind every wall so water has somewhere to go instead of building up pressure against the face.
Beyond stopping erosion, a well-placed retaining wall often reclaims a whole section of unusable sloped yard into a flat, plantable or walkable space — worth thinking about as part of the design if you’re dealing with a hillside lot.

What's Included
Excavation & base — A compacted gravel base below frost depth, sized to the wall’s height and the soil it’s holding back.
Drainage system — Perforated drain pipe and gravel backfill behind the wall so water doesn’t build up pressure.
Wall construction — Segmental retaining wall block or natural stone, set and backfilled in compacted lifts.
Cap & finish grading — A capstone finish and regraded soil in front of and behind the completed wall.
